The golf bug bit Ashley hard at the age of 8 after his grandfather bought him a junior set consisting of 5 clubs for the small fortune of R139, roughly €9.

Ashley received his first lesson below the Cutty Sark Hotel on the Kwazulu Natal South Coast and thereafter spent many happy hours on the Dordrecht Golf Course learning the game and adhering to the strict etiquette enforced by his father & fellow members.

Representing the Border u/15 and captaining the U/18 side in his matric year, Ashley went on to represent Stellenbosch University and now regularly represents his home club of 15 years, Royal Cape. Ashley has coached many juniors, has been exposed to the inner workings of golf clubs and has had the pleasure of introducing numerous tourers to the exceptional golf courses in the greater Cape Town area.
